City Shield Tips: How to Survive More Waves
City Shield looks like a reflex test, but high scores come from aiming ahead, saving ammo and catching several meteors in one blast. Every wave hands you a limited supply of interceptors, and whatever you do not use turns into points. Here is how to keep all six cities standing for longer and squeeze extra score out of every wave.

Aim where the meteor will be
An interceptor flies from your launcher to the spot you tap and only bursts when it gets there, so the meteor keeps falling in the meantime. Tap a little below a meteor, along its path, rather than right on it. Meteors fall faster with every wave, and the small fast ones that appear from wave 2 need an even bigger lead. The shock wave lingers for a moment, so a meteor that drifts into it still counts.
Catch groups for big points
Points climb for every extra meteor caught by the same interceptor: the first is worth 25, the second 50, the third 75 and so on. When several meteors fall close together, wait a moment until they bunch up, then put one shot in the middle of the group. Destroyed meteors can set off chain reactions through a crowded sky, so a well-placed blast often clears far more than you aimed at.
Treat ammo as score
At the end of each wave you earn 5 points for every unused interceptor and 50 for every city still standing. Firing at every rock wastes both. Focus on meteors heading for living cities and let the odd one aimed at empty ground fall. Splitting meteors, marked with a cross from wave 3, break into three pieces partway down, so hit them high before they split.
Grab the parachute crates
From wave 2, crates often drift down on parachutes. Shoot one to collect it. Blue adds 8 ammo, yellow makes your blasts much bigger for 12 seconds, green puts a shield over the cities for 12 seconds and orange rebuilds a destroyed city. A crate is nearly always worth one interceptor, and an orange crate is priceless once you have lost a city.
Go wild on bonus waves
Every fourth wave is a bonus wave full of golden comets. They cannot hurt your cities, and each one you hit is worth 100 points. You also get plenty of ammo for these waves, so fire freely and aim for groups. A lost city is rebuilt at the end of a bonus wave too, which gives you a fresh start for the harder waves ahead.
Questions
- Do the meteors get faster?
- Yes. Each new wave sends more meteors, makes them fall faster and shortens the gap between them. Fast meteors appear from wave 2 and splitting ones from wave 3.
- How many meteors can one shot destroy?
- There is no limit. Each extra meteor caught by the same interceptor is worth 25 more points than the one before, and three at once earns the Triple Hit achievement.
- What happens if I run out of ammo?
- You cannot fire again until the next wave, so anything still falling will land. Keep a few interceptors in reserve for the end of each wave.
