How to Win at Snow Slalom: Ski Racing Tips
Snow Slalom is a race against the clock that only ends when the time runs out. Distance, gates and jumps all add to your score, and gate streaks multiply it. Missing gates and hitting trees cost you time, so smooth, controlled skiing will always beat reckless speed on this mountain.

Turn early and smoothly
Start each turn before you reach the gate, not when you are already beside it. Sharp, late carves slow you down more than smooth lines. Think of your route as a gentle curve that passes through the middle of each pair of flags. On touch screens, pressing closer to the skier gives a softer turn and further away a sharper one.
Build the gate multiplier
Every gate you pass in a row raises your score multiplier, up to five times. A missed gate breaks the streak and takes three seconds off the clock, which hurts twice. When a gate is far to one side, it is usually worth a slightly slower line to make it, rather than giving up the streak and the time.
Avoid trees and rocks
Hitting a tree or rock does not end the run, but you fall, lose speed and lose a little time. Look further down the slope so obstacles never surprise you. Leave yourself room on both sides as you pass between hazards, and do not cut a gate so tight that you clip a tree just beyond it.
On a keyboard, carve with the Left and Right arrows or A and D. Tap the keys for small corrections rather than holding them down, which swings the skier too far and scrubs off speed. Light, early inputs keep the line smooth and fast.
Use ramps wisely
Ramps launch you into the air and over trees, which adds jump points and lets you take a straighter line. Aim for a ramp when it lines up with the next gate, but do not swerve across the slope to reach one if it means missing a gate. Points from a jump are not worth losing your multiplier.
Collect time at checkpoints
Skiing under a checkpoint banner adds time to the clock, but the bonus shrinks as you go deeper down the mountain. Early in a run, a strong gate streak builds the speed and score you need. Later, every second matters, so stay clean through the gates and keep heading for the next banner.
Questions
- What is the highest multiplier?
- Five times, built by passing gates in a row without missing one.
- How much time does a missed gate cost?
- Three seconds, and it also resets your gate streak.
- Is it worth missing a gate to avoid a sharp turn?
- Rarely. A missed gate costs three seconds and resets your multiplier, so a slightly slower line through the gate is better.
