Maze Muncher Tips: Clear Mazes & Score Big
Maze Muncher rewards players who know the maze and the critters, not just quick thumbs. You get three lives, four critters that each hunt in their own way, and a few power gems in every maze. Use this guide to stay alive longer, clear mazes faster and turn power gems into big bonus points.

Learn the four critters
The critters are not random. One chases you directly, one aims at the spot ahead of you to cut you off, one closes in from the side, and one gets shy up close and heads back to its corner. Knowing who is who tells you which way is safe: a critter moving toward where you are going is more dangerous than one following behind.
Turn early and use tunnels
You can press the next direction before reaching a corner, and Bolt turns as soon as the path opens. Queue turns early instead of reacting late, especially when a critter is close. The side tunnels are your best escape route, because critters slow right down inside them while Bolt keeps full speed. Lead a chase through a tunnel to win yourself some space.
Make power gems count
A power gem is worth 50 points and makes every critter scared for a few seconds. Munching scared critters in a row pays 200, 400, 800 and 1600 points. Lure critters close before you eat a gem, then turn and chase. Scared time shrinks on later levels, from about seven seconds at the start to only a couple of seconds, so later on eat gems only when critters are right beside you.
Clear mazes for the big bonus
Each dot is worth 10 points, but clearing the maze adds 500 points times the level, so steady clearing is the main source of score. A lightning bolt bonus appears below the critter house after you eat about 30 percent of the dots and again at about 70 percent. It stays for around nine seconds and pays more on every level, so grab it when the path is clear.
Plan your route
Clear one area at a time instead of zigzagging across the maze, and leave a power gem near any crowded corner as an emergency button. Lonely dots in dead ends are best collected while critters are scared or far away. The three mazes repeat as you level up, with faster critters each time, so learning their shortcuts pays off again and again.
Questions
- How many points is each dot worth?
- Each dot is worth 10 points and each power gem 50. Clearing a maze adds a bonus of 500 points times the level.
- Can I earn extra lives?
- No. You have three lives for the whole game, so playing safely matters more than chasing every bonus.
- Do the critters get faster?
- Yes. Critters and Bolt both speed up on every level, while the time critters stay scared gets shorter.
