Bike Trials Tips: Beat the Clock for 3 Stars
Bike Trials is about balance and control, not just speed. Across 25 courses you face bumps, logs, steps, seesaws, water jumps and full loops, and a crash sends you back to the last checkpoint while the clock keeps running. Finish under the target time for three stars. These tips cover throttle control, leaning and the obstacles that cause the most crashes.

Feather the throttle
Holding gas all the time makes the bike wheelie, bounce and flip over. On rough ground, tap the gas or ease off to keep both wheels down and steady. Braking slows you or lets you roll back a little, which is useful for lining up a tricky step. Smooth inputs are faster in the end than full throttle followed by a crash.
Lean to stay balanced
Leaning back lifts the front wheel and leaning forward pushes it down. On steep climbs, lean forward so the bike does not flip over backwards. Before a step or log, a small lean back lifts the front wheel onto it, then lean forward as the back wheel follows. Leaning works much more strongly in the air than on the ground.
Land on both wheels
In the air, use lean to match the angle of the ground you will land on. Landing on the back wheel first is usually fine, but landing nose first or upside down ends in a crash. Before big jumps, lean back slightly so the nose does not dive. If the rider's head touches the ground, you restart at the last checkpoint.
Loops and seesaws
Go into loops with plenty of speed and keep the gas on all the way round. Slowing down inside a loop makes the bike drop off the top. Seesaws tip as your weight moves across them, so ride over gently and let the board settle before accelerating away. Loops appear from level 9 and seesaws from level 5.
Chase the target time
Three stars need a finish within the target time shown at the start, and two stars allow about half as much time again. Every crash costs time, so on a first run focus on a clean ride. Once you know the course, push harder on easy sections and stay careful on the obstacles that caught you.
Questions
- How do I get two stars?
- Finish within about one and a half times the target time. Any finish earns at least one star.
- Can I restart a level from the beginning?
- R restarts from the last checkpoint. To start a level fresh, open it again from the levels menu.
- When do loops appear?
- Loops first show up around level 9, after you have learned steps, seesaws and jumps on earlier courses.
