Sea Battle is the classic game of hidden fleets on a 10 by 10 grid. Drag your five ships into position or shuffle them, then trade shots with the computer. A splash means a miss, fire means a hit, and hitting every square of a ship sends it to the bottom. The hard AI hunts with probability, so you will need to think about where ships can still hide. Sink the whole enemy fleet before yours goes down.
How to play
- Choose a difficulty.
- Drag ships to place them, tap a ship to rotate it, or press Shuffle.
- Press Battle! to start.
- Tap a square on the enemy grid to fire; you and the computer take turns.
- Hit every square of a ship to sink it. Sink all five enemy ships first to win.
Controls
- Computer
- Click squares on the enemy grid to fire, or use the arrow keys and Space. During setup, drag ships, click to rotate, R shuffles and Enter starts.
- Phone and tablet
- Drag ships to place them and tap to rotate, then tap enemy squares to fire.
Tips
- Fire in a checkerboard pattern: every ship covers at least two squares.
- After a hit, try the four neighbouring squares, then follow the line.
- Ships cannot overlap, so space around sunk ships is often empty.
Questions
- What ships are in the fleet?
- Five ships, 5, 4, 3, 3 and 2 squares long.
- How smart is the computer?
- Easy fires mostly at random, Normal hunts around hits, and Hard uses probability to guess where ships hide.
