Pool Break

📖 Read the strategy guide ›

Pool Break is a clean, fast 8-ball pool game with realistic rolling and bouncing. Drag to aim and a guide line shows where the cue ball meets the target and where the object ball will go. Pull the power bar, or drag back from the cue ball, and release. Pot all of your solids or stripes, then sink the 8 to win against an easy, normal or hard computer. In Clear the table mode you play alone and chase a high score with combos.

How to play

  1. Choose a difficulty and the vs CPU or Clear the table mode.
  2. Drag on the table to aim. Follow the guide line to the ghost ball.
  3. Pull the power bar down (or drag back from the cue ball) and let go to shoot.
  4. The first ball you pot after the break decides your group: solids or stripes.
  5. Clear your group, then pot the 8 to win. Pot the 8 too early and you lose.

Controls

Computer
Move the mouse to aim and drag the power bar to shoot. Or use Left/Right to aim (hold Shift for fine aim), Up/Down for power and Space to shoot.
Phone and tablet
Drag on the table to aim, then pull the power bar on the right and release to shoot. After a foul, drag the cue ball to place it.

Tips

  • Softer shots are more accurate and keep the cue ball under control.
  • A red line on the guide means you are about to hit the wrong ball.
  • After a foul you get ball in hand: place the cue ball for an easy pot.

Questions

What counts as a foul?
Potting the cue ball, missing every ball, or hitting the other player's group (or the 8 too soon) first. Your opponent then gets ball in hand.
How does Clear the table work?
You have five lives. A shot that pots nothing or a scratch costs a life, potting two or more balls at once gives one back, and combos multiply your score.
