How to Win at Penalty Kings: Shootout Tips

Penalty Kings is half shooting and half goalkeeping, and you need both to be crowned champion. The six teams get tougher as you go: their keepers react faster and read your shots better, and their strikers miss less often. Here is how to score more, save more and survive sudden death.

Pick your spot and commit

The best target is just inside a post, not the middle of the goal. Aim slightly inside the corner, because a shot that is too close to the frame hits the woodwork or goes wide. High corners are the hardest to reach, but aim too high and the ball flies over the bar.

Decide where you are shooting before you start the swipe. A hesitant, wobbly swipe sends the ball somewhere you did not plan. One smooth, confident motion from the ball toward your chosen spot gives the most consistent results, whether you shoot low or high.

Use curve, but gently

Curving your swipe bends the ball in flight. A shot that starts toward the middle and swings into the corner is hard for a keeper to judge. Do not overdo it: a big curve is easy to misjudge and often drifts wide of the post. On a keyboard, aim with the arrows and hold Space for power instead.

Mix up your corners

Later keepers are better at reading your shots, so avoid repeating yourself. If you scored low left, try high right next time, then go back. Varying the height as well as the side gives you four real targets and keeps the stronger teams guessing all the way to the final.

Saving penalties

In goal, watch the striker's run-up before you tap. Diving too early is the most common mistake. Wait for the striker to commit, then tap the side of the goal you want to dive to. Even the best strikers miss now and then, so stay patient and let them make the error.

Handling sudden death

If the shootout ends level, it goes to sudden death, one kick each. Play it safe with your own kicks here. A calm, well-placed shot into your most reliable corner beats a risky top-corner attempt, because a single miss can end your run and send you back to the first team.

Questions

Why do later teams save more of my shots?
Each keeper reacts faster and reads shots better than the last. Aim closer to the corners and vary more.
Should I dive early when I am in goal?
No. Watch the run-up and wait as long as you can before tapping.
