Number Cross is a calm but clever number puzzle. Every white run of cells has a clue that tells you its total, and you must fill each cell with a digit from 1 to 9 so that all the rows and columns add up correctly. The catch: a digit can never appear twice in the same run. Every grid is freshly generated and has exactly one solution, so pure logic always gets you there. Pick Easy for a quick warm-up or Hard for a real brain workout.
How to play
- Choose Easy, Medium or Hard and press Play.
- Tap a white cell to select it; its row and column runs light up.
- Tap a number on the keypad to fill the cell, or the eraser to clear it.
- Make every run add up to the clue next to it, using each digit only once per run.
- A clue turns green when its run is complete and correct. Fill the whole grid to win.
Controls
- Computer
- Click a cell, then click a number or type 1-9. Arrow keys move between cells, Backspace erases, Z undoes, H gives a hint, Esc pauses.
- Phone and tablet
- Tap a cell, then tap a number on the keypad. Use the eraser, Undo and Hint buttons below the grid.
Tips
- Start with short runs that have extreme totals: two cells adding to 3 must be 1 and 2.
- Look where a row run and a column run cross; the digit must fit both totals.
- Digits shown dimmed on the keypad are already used in the selected runs.
Questions
- Does every Number Cross puzzle have a solution?
- Yes. Every grid is generated with a known answer and checked by a solver so it has exactly one solution.
- What do the hints do?
- A hint fills the selected cell, or a random empty or wrong cell, with the correct digit. Hints lower your score a little.
