Free Cells is the classic open solitaire where every card is dealt face up and almost every deal can be solved with careful thinking. Eight columns hold all 52 cards. Use the four free cells as parking spaces, build columns downward in alternating colours and send each suit to its foundation from Ace up to King. Play a random numbered deal or the daily deal, use undo and hints when you are stuck, and win quickly without undo for the biggest score.
How to play
- Choose a random deal or the daily deal on the title screen.
- Move cards onto a column one rank higher in the opposite colour.
- Park any single card in one of the four free cells; any card can go into an empty column.
- Move several cards at once when you have enough free cells and empty columns.
- Send each suit to its foundation from Ace to King; when all 52 cards are home, you win.
Controls
- Computer
- Drag cards, or click a card and then its destination. Double-click sends a card to the best spot. U or Ctrl+Z undoes, H shows a hint.
- Phone and tablet
- Drag cards, or tap a card and then where it should go. Double-tap sends a card to the best spot.
Tips
- Free the Aces and low cards first, they are often buried deep in the columns.
- Keep free cells empty as long as you can; every full cell limits how many cards you can move at once.
- An empty column is worth two free cells, so try to clear a short column early.
Questions
- How is the score calculated?
- Each card sent to a foundation gives 10 points. Winning adds a time bonus, plus 200 points if you never used undo.
- Can I replay the same deal?
- Yes. Every deal has a number, and the daily deal is the same for everyone all day long.
