Color Sort is a satisfying liquid-pouring puzzle. Test tubes are filled with mixed layers of colour, and you pour from one tube to another until each tube holds only one colour. You can only pour onto the same colour or into an empty tube, and every tube holds four layers, so planning ahead matters. Every level is generated and checked by a solver, so it can always be finished. Use Undo freely, or ask for a hint when you get stuck.
How to play
- Choose a difficulty and press Play.
- Tap a tube to pick it up.
- Tap another tube to pour the top colour into it.
- You can only pour onto the same colour or into an empty tube with room.
- Fill every tube with a single colour to win.
Controls
- Computer
- Click a tube, then click where to pour. Keys 1-9 pick tubes, arrows and Space also work. Z undoes, H hints, R resets, Esc pauses.
- Phone and tablet
- Tap a tube, then tap the tube to pour into. Use Undo, Hint and Reset below the tubes.
Tips
- Keep at least one tube empty for as long as you can; it is your most valuable space.
- Pour onto matching colours before using an empty tube.
- If you get stuck, Undo a few moves rather than resetting the whole level.
Questions
- Can a Color Sort level be impossible?
- No. Every level is checked by a solver before you play it. You can still get stuck by your own moves, which is what Undo is for.
- How is the score calculated?
- You get points for the difficulty, a bonus for finishing quickly and for using few moves, minus a little for each hint.
