Deep Fish Guide: Best Upgrades & Fishing Tips
Deep Fish is a loop of dive, catch, sell and upgrade, and the order you buy upgrades decides how quickly you progress. Fish near the bottom are worth many times more than the minnows near the boat, but you only reach them by dodging on the way down. This guide covers fish values, upgrade order and how to fill your hook on the way up.

Know what lives where
Fish values climb with depth. Minnows near the surface pay 2 coins, sardines 3, clownfish 7 and pufferfish 10. Tuna and squid live below 100 metres and pay 16 and 22. Anglerfish and swordfish appear from about 190 metres for 38 and 48, and lantern fish below 280 metres pay 62. The rare golden fish, worth 250, can only appear when your line reaches 280 metres.
Buy line length first
Your line starts at 80 metres and each Line length level adds 35. Since the best fish live deep, extra depth raises the value of every dive. Hook size comes next: you start with room for three fish and each level adds two more, so a deep line only pays off fully when the hook can carry the haul. Reel speed also makes the hook sink faster, which saves time later.
Dodge on the way down
Touching any fish while the hook sinks starts the reel early and wastes the dive. Watch the water below the hook rather than the hook itself, and slide into gaps between fish before you reach them. Small, early moves work better than sudden swerves. The deeper the hook gets before it turns, the more valuable the fish you pass on the way back.
Fill the hook on the way up
Once the reel starts, steer into as many fish as your hook can hold. The hook stops taking fish when it is full, so aim for the bigger, deeper fish first and pick up small ones near the surface. Jellyfish drift around from about 45 metres. A sting knocks your last two fish off the hook, so give them plenty of room even if it means skipping a catch.
Hunt the golden fish
With a line of 280 metres or more, there is a good chance a golden fish is swimming between 270 metres and the bottom of your line. It is worth more than several ordinary hauls, so on deep dives keep an eye out for its yellow glow during the climb and save a space on the hook for it.
Questions
- How deep can my line go?
- Line length has ten levels, which take your maximum depth from 80 metres up to 430 metres.
- What does reel speed do?
- It makes the hook drop and reel up faster, so each dive takes less time and you can fish more often.
- Why do upgrades get so expensive?
- Each level costs about 60 percent more than the one before. The first levels are cheap, and the last ones need deep, full hauls to afford.
