How to Win at Brick Breaker: Paddle Game Strategy
Brick Breaker has ten levels to clear with three lives. Some bricks take two or three hits and a few cannot be broken at all. The ball speeds up the longer a level lasts, and every life you have left when you clear a level adds bonus points. Control, not speed, is what wins here.

Aim with the paddle
Where the ball hits your paddle decides its angle. A hit in the centre sends it straight up, and a hit near the edge sends it off at a sharp angle. Use the edges to steer the ball toward the bricks you want to break, and the centre when you just need a safe return. Moving the paddle under the ball early leaves time to choose.
A new ball sits on your paddle until you launch it, and it launches by itself after about five seconds. Use that pause to slide the paddle under the side of the wall you want to attack, since the ball heads roughly straight up from where you launch it.
Break through to the top
Work on one side of the brick wall until you open a gap, then send the ball through it. Once it is above the bricks, it bounces between them and the top wall, breaking many in a row without needing your paddle. Every brick you break before the ball returns builds a combo that adds extra points to each one.
Use the power-ups well
Broken bricks sometimes drop power-ups. Wide makes your paddle bigger for a while, Slow reduces the ball speed for a short time, and Multi-ball adds extra balls, which is great for clearing levels quickly. A rare extra life also appears. Catch power-ups only when it is safe, and never leave the ball to chase one.
Deal with tough bricks
Some bricks need two or three hits, and the solid ones cannot be broken at all. You only need to clear the breakable bricks to finish a level, so do not waste time aiming at the unbreakable ones. Use them as walls to bounce the ball into hard-to-reach corners instead.
Protect your lives
Losing a life also removes any active power-ups, so it hurts twice. Keep your eyes on the ball, especially as it speeds up later in a level. When things get hectic with several balls, focus on the one closest to the bottom. Each life left when you clear a level is worth 100 bonus points.
Questions
- How do I change the angle of the ball?
- Hit it with the edge of the paddle for a sharp angle, or the centre to send it straight up.
- Do I have to break every brick?
- Only the breakable ones. Solid bricks can never be destroyed and do not count.
- Why does the ball keep getting faster?
- The ball speeds up the longer a level lasts and on higher levels. The Slow power-up calms it down for a while.
